From the rainforests of West Africa to the Boardrooms of the world.

Not a traditional career journey.

But traditional journey's only achieve traditional results.  Roger wanted more.

​Inspired by his teachers:  Roger grew up on the south coast of England and attended a school in Portsmouth that was ranked second to bottom in the county league tables and set low expectations for its pupils. However, as a result of the mentoring he received from two teachers, he became the first pupil in over 10 years to go to university from the school.

Geologist to corporate executive: Again inspired by comments made by one teacher, he set his mind on traveling the world.  And a way to do this was to become a geologist. So after degree in Geology and Masters in Oceanography he worked for oil companies in West Africa and the contrasting climate of the North Sea.  Enjoying travelling to places where tourists seldom visit.

Realising in his 20s that examining rocks wasn’t his calling after all, he gained an MBA degree from Cranfield School of Management as a stepping-stone into international business.

Roger’s corporate career journey subsequently included: Chase Manhattan Bank, managing an operations area during a period of organisational change; Amadeus IT, where he started new country markets in Europe, the US and Asia; Korn/Ferry International as an executive headhunter recruiting senior leaders for clients, and digital marketing consultancy. 

A career journey that allowed Roger to conduct business in over 40 countries and live in 4.

Turning point: However, the passing of his father was a trigger for him to stop and reflect on what he truly wanted in his career.

He left his safe corporate job to become a solo consultant.

He started with no network. No market reputation. No authority status. No unique system. No growth strategy. No real idea how to secure clients (that’s literally no idea how to secure ‘any clients’ not just CEO clients!).  And with very little income.

Early on there were times when he really struggled and thought about giving up.

Eureka moment: To achieve the success he wanted he realised he had to do Out-Think, Out-Convert and Out-Serve my competition.  And the vital element was to create irrefutable value.  The Trusted Advisor Project evolved from this moment.

He invested further in himself and The Trusted Advisor Project’s development by gaining a Masters degree from INSEAD business school in Consulting and Coaching for Change (clinical organisational psychology)

Over the years he learnt the secrets to getting published in Harvard Business Review and being featured in leading publications, how to generate CEO meetings when he needed, writing best selling international business books (he's sold over 50,000), how to create irrefutable value and lasting mutually profitable CEO relationships.  

Along the way he was also invited to help some of the world leading professional service firms improve how they work at the most senior levels in their client companies.
